TapPaw Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 14, 2026

TapPaw records walks with your dog. Walks, dogs, photos and notes are stored only on your device. An account is needed only for community features, and only if you choose to create one.

Data the app uses

Community account (optional)

If you sign in with Apple in the Community section, Apple gives us only an anonymous user identifier — no name or email. Our server stores that identifier, your dogs' names and breeds (so other walkers see who a gift is for), the gifts you receive, your friends and friend requests, and your device's notification token with the app language.

When you start a walk you choose who sees it: friends only, everyone nearby, or nobody. Unless you choose "Nobody", the route points of the walk are sent to the server while you record it, and your friends (or, for "Everyone nearby", any signed-in user nearby) see your current position, that walk's route, and your dogs' names and breeds. The position is hidden 3 minutes after the last update; route points are deleted when the walk ends — only anonymous popular routes remain: segments of about 20 m walked by at least two different people. You can change who sees the walk at any time during it.

Friends are added only by mutual consent: you send a request from a walker's card on the map, and the other person has to accept it. Removing a friend or blocking someone deletes the friendship on the server.

Paid gifts are bought through the App Store. To check a purchase, the app sends our server the App Store transaction (product, date, transaction number); we never receive your payment details.

You can delete the account at any time: Profile → "Delete account" or "Delete all data". All of the above is removed from the server and the app's access to your Apple ID is revoked.
